Green Gibbon Story
The furry green ape has been battered on it’s journey around the globe. He began his adventures when he joined me in Russia as a girlfriend reminder! From there he was tortured on Aconcagua, hung from a trekking pole, crushed under a rock. This was the beginning as during his month long Alaskan expedition he was suffocated in a condom and crushed under the wheels of a Denali park service bus. With only a bandaid on his butt to show his wounds he lives on and will be the mascot on Everest this year.

History
The overall aim is to climb to the summit of the highest mountain on each of the seven continents, where we have Everest in Asia, Vinson in Antarctica, and Carstensz Pyramid in Australasia remaining to do.

Between March 20th and May 31st 2005 we plan to climb to the summit of Mount Everest. Due to the high cost of permits in the Himalayas and the complexity of logistics, Green Gibbon Expeditions is joining an expedition organized by Eric Simonson who is joint owner of International Mountain Guides of Seattle. Our team of climbers under Mike Hamill’s leadership will work together establishing camps, hauling loads, and fixing ropes on the mountain, which will take the South Col route up through Nepal. For expedition itinerary and climb information see the Itinerary section.

To be able to succeed we have already begun our training schedules and in February 2004 we flew down to Mexico and successfully climbed Pico de Orizaba, the 3rd highest mountain in North America at an altitude of 18,405′ (5,610m). Training consists of running, hill-walking in the gym, biking, swimming on top and underwater for building up lung capacity, and upper & lower body gym work. This will get more intense over the coming year.
